Hi! I’m Joey Ding, a first-year student in the Media Communications BA program at UAL LCC.

I have a strong passion for movies, fashion, and all things creative. I enjoy exploring different forms of media and expressing my unique perspective on the world through my work.

My interests drive me to stay curious and continuously seek inspiration from various sources. I am excited to develop my skills further in this vibrant environment and can’t wait to collaborate with fellow creatives.

Introduction

Hi, this is Joey, welcome to my blog, which consists of four areas: inspirational moodboards, photographs, creative writing, and podcasts. It’s a theme of dreamcore, together with some Y2K elements, and I wanted to present my aesthetic design and personal interests through these visual elements.

Main points

Dreamcore is usually created based on places that cover most people’s childhood memories, but there are always some elements that don’t make any logical sense, and the viewer will feel a sense of unreality. So in order to visualise such an abstract concept, I chose to incorporate the role of a rabbit doll into my work. Bunny dolls are also a common image in this style of Dreamcore, as a kind of playmate for people in their childhood, or a carrier of good childhood memories.

Conclusion

Through this creation, from pre-production to post-editing, I learnt some new skills and really enjoyed the process of shooting and creating. I hope you like my work too and thank you for your time, so that’s all for my introduction, see you next time!

I was first inspired by a surrealist aesthetic called Dreamcore, which usually uses bright colors, and is usually created around life scenes, which may be old rooms, kindergartens, classrooms, villages, and other places that cover most people’s childhood memories, but there are always some elements that don’t make any logical sense, and the viewer will feel a sense of unreality.

Meanwhile, the rabbit element comes to mind. Bunny dolls are also a common image in this style of Dreamcore, as a kind of playmate for people in their childhood, or a carrier of good childhood memories. In the magazine I wanted to use it as another character in this magazine, interacting with the models. So I found some double stands and looks for reference that inspired me.

A Day In the Park with Mr Bunny

What do your dreams look like? To the average person, dreams are an unknown realm of possibility that can induce both excitement and fear. Dreamcore is a surrealist aesthetic that uses motifs commonly associated with dreams, daydreams or nightmares, portrayed through media such as images, videos and, on occasion, music.

So now follow Mr Bunny’s footsteps, wondering in the park and playing together, does it feel like going back to the happy days when you are a little child, or remind you of the lovely playmates that accompanied you through your childhood? In here, dreamcore can also be warm and cosy, Mr Bunny is your reliable and trustworthy best friend, and even when you grow up, he will always be with you silently through every moment of your life.
